Friday PJ Party

003Some days it’s just necessary to stay home in our jammies all day.  That’s what we did this past Friday, and we had a blast.  Levi came out of his room ready to go on a bear hunt, wearing some explorer clothes…vest, hat, backpack and walkie talkies.  How could I make him go put on clothes after seeing him look this adorable? No way. (On a side note…yes, those are still paint swatches you see on our walls. BUT I did finish painting the dining room, studio and bathroom this past week and will post pics soon.)013 020It was a beautiful, bright northern California day and we opened the door and let the sun shine in.  We got out some paints and oil pastels and drew pictures together.  I pulled out a few older watercolor paintings of Levi’s and so the project became a multi-media collaboration.  I haven’t used oil pastels yet with him, so it was a fun experience for him and a nice way for me to revisit one of my favorite art mediums.  I had set up his crafting area for him and was on the other side of the studio trying to fold laundry, but I was quickly persuaded by him to come and make pictures together.  Again, how could I say no?022 028 035“A rainbow for you, Mommy.”034At one point, Levi disappeared and came back inside with a handful of sweet grass flowers that grow on the side of our house.  015And then this little monkey woke up from his nap. It seems that I don’t include him that often in my blog posts.  Honestly, while he is awake he’s such a whirlwind of energy and spunk, that I don’t even have time to think about picking up the camera because I’m so busy just trying to keep up with him! One of these days, he’ll get his own post. He is a complex and amazing little person with a BIG personality, extensive vocabulary and wicked sense of humor.  And just look at that face and crazy bed-head hair…which he has all the time, not just after he’s woken up. 020Some days this stay-at-home-mom gig is the best job I’ve ever had.  Some days.  Other days, I want to run out of the house waving my white flag high in the air and scream defeat.  It’s days like this one though that remind me to surrender more often and just go with the flow.
