028Just wanted to pop in with a quickie post/update on the sweater mitts or wrist warmers or fingerless gloves…whatever you’d like to call them.  This is a project I’ve wanted to do for a while now, and after finding a super easy tutorial over at The Renegade Seamstress, I gave it a go.  I just made a simple pattern from tracing my hand and made some mitts with thumbs, some without and then altered it to fit different sized hands. From a few of the bigger wool sweaters, I was actually  able to cut two glove patterns out of the sleeves…more bang for my buck, for sure!024 025I spent two nights cutting and sewing out about 20 different pairs.  So far, these are the ones that are finished with crocheted trim and buttons.  I particularly like the little gray pair with turquoise trim myself…might have to reconsider selling those at the fair.030Remember the Banana Republic merino wool sweater I got at the thrift store for $3? Well, I’ve made one pair of pretty little gloves and a fun wrist bracelet/cuff from the sleeves. I still have enough fabric to make 2 coffee cuffs and 2 more bracelets. Whoot! Whoot!039I am pretty excited to be participating in this little holiday show this coming weekend.  I feel that much good is going to come out of it, and I don’t just mean sales!  I get to show my work along side of a woman who sells hand-woven scarves and shawls made by a grassroots organization of women in Brazil called, Fios da Terra.  We were invited to show our work and share the space of our friends, Gillian and Scott Casey of Concordia Natural Medicine, who are participating in this holiday open house along with my chiropractor, Dr. Rhea from Blossom Chiropractic Studio.

Having been to this open house in the past, I can attest to what a fun time it is; filled with holiday cheer, happy families, good nibbles, and now handmade gifts.  I can’t wait! Come join us if you are in Napa this weekend.
