010A little bunny paid a visit to our house yesterday and he almost got caught!  Michael and I had JUST finished hiding the lot of eggs around the house when minutes later Levi woke up to use the bathroom.  Once this child is asleep, he very rarely wakes up…except on this night.  Even in his sleepy-eyed slumber, he spotted an egg hiding under the closet door of the hallway…and the lights weren’t even on! Well, that woke him right up and it took lots of gentle coaxing to get him back into bed and asleep.047048Both boys were up before 7 and it was next to impossible for us all to stay cuddled in bed. They were just too excited and ready to take on the day.  And so we did..073They searched for eggs and inspected their new art supplies and paper planes.???????????????????????????????Calvin discovered chocolate eggs for the first time and after 2 or 3 eggs made it into his mouth before breakfast, I put the others up…or so I thought. We found him with a stray egg under the dining room table about to tear it apart. It was so funny and crafty of him, that I had to let him enjoy it. His cheeky little smile just made me melt. 227After reading the boys their “note” from the Bunny, Levi proclaimed, “WOW, Mama! The Easter Bunny knows how to write in cursive!!” 160 174149We had a fairly good rain the night before and the garden was wet and muddy, but it didn’t stop us from getting outside once the sun peaked out, to pull some weeds, clean out the chicken coop and get our beds ready for planting.  (We are SO very behind this year on the garden, but I’ve decided to not let it get me down. It won’t be perfect, but there will surely be food to eat from it, so I’m not going to stress about it.)

It continued to rain on and off all day, with clouds and sunshine in equal measure.  From the studio, with the garage door raised open, we watched the raindrops fall onto the street.  Within minutes, the boys spotted the rainwater coming down from the gutter and just had to collect it in buckets.  204 210 218And what would collected water be if it couldn’t be poured out again and again? Thankfully this little spur-of-the-moment project occupied them for quite awhile and I was able to sneak over to the other side of the studio and get some sewing done.  Love when that happens!181 - CopyBefore the rain washed it away, I snapped this photo of Levi’s chalk drawing of our family.  I love the huge hands on Michael and my spiky hairdo. 183Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are going into your week with a spring in your step.
